Abstract

Referring to the title above, this research is motivated by the findings of the problems found in the subjects of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) in class IV MI Naelushibyan Cileunyi District Bandung Regency, that student activities in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) are not active when learning takes place . This happens because the teacher still uses the lecture method and the teacher does not use a suitable method in delivering the material. So the need for suitable methods to increase student activity in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) The implementation of Islamic Cultural History learning in SK IV MI Naelushibyan before applying the learning tournament method (2) The process of applying the learning tournament method in student activities in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subjects in class IV MI Naelushibyan (3) Student activities on the subjects of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) in class IV MI Naelushibyan after applying the learning tournament method. This research is based on the idea that student activity can increase which is influenced by several factors, including by applying the learning tournament method. Researchers propose an action hypothesis that by applying the learning tournament method it is thought to be able to increase the activity of Grade IV MI Naelushibyan students in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subjects. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is carried out in 2 cycles with each cycle consisting of two actions. Data collection techniques in this study were observation sheets of student and teacher activities, interviews and documentation. Students as research subjects, with 22 students consisting of 14 male students and 8 female students. Based on the results of the study showed that student activities before applying the learning tournament method reached 49.09% and included in the category of very less. The learning process by applying the learning tournament method increases in each cycle. This is evident from the results of observations of student and teacher activities on each action. Cycle I action I 76% student activity and 56% teacher activity, cycle I action II obtained 80% student activity and 72% teacher activity. In cycle II, action I obtained 88% student activity results and 80% teacher activity, while in cycle II action II obtained about 96% student activity results and 92% teacher activity. After applying the learning tournament method, the average percentage in the first cycle was 67.35% and included in the sufficient category, while in the second cycle the results obtained 88.8% and included in the good category. From the data obtained it can be concluded that by applying the learning tournament method can increase student activity in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject of Isra ’Mi'raj in class IV MI Naelushibyan Kecamatan Cileunyi Bandung District.
