Abstract

Vocabulary learning is an essential part in foreign language learning as the meanings of new words are very often emphasized, whether in books or class. This study aims (1) to describe Students vocabulary problems in speaking class of English Education Department at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. (2) To find out the way to encounter those problems in Speaking class of English Education Department at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This study applied a qualitative research approach, a case study design. A case study was implemented because this research explored its Vocabulary problem in speaking class was implemented in the first semester students of English Education Department in UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung academic year 2019. The participants of this study were forty-two students of B class. The data obtained from Observation, and interview. The result of Observation and to know encountering problem toward vocabulary. As beside, they were a little numerical data on the questionnaire from the questionnaire result, which was obtained by the vocabulary problem in speaking class. The result of the research shows that the implementation analysis of finding students vocabulary problem in speaking class reveals successful indicators. During two weeks, two meeting review observations which have been implemented by the lecturer, the observer, and students. Furthermore, the students who have a vocabulary problem in speaking class is 40%, and students who have a slight vocabulary problem is 60%. The interview results in the technique the lecturer uses to solve vocabulary problems is quite useful, finally from the questionnaire result students domination of positive toward this research. In conclusion, this research shows that students got vocabulary problem in speaking class. This study recommended for further researchers find vocabulary problems in speaking class, not just in one class. Furthermore, studies exploring other vocabulary problems that students have in speaking classes should be tried different levels and contexts.
