Abstract

This research is entitled "Obstacle of Adventure Formula in The Warriors (1979) Movie Directed by Walter Hill." This thesis analyzes the film The Warriors based on the adventure formula theory proposed by John G. Cawelti. The main focus of this study is to identify the role of obstacles in the film's adventure plot and how the main character faces various obstacles during the journey. In addition, this study also examines the characterization of each gang member based on their choice of names.The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques, combining the adventure formula theory with Petrie and Boggs' characterization theory. The results of the study indicate that this film follows the classic adventure formula pattern, where the protagonist faces various physical and emotional challenges that must be overcome in order to achieve a moral goal.
