Abstract

This paper aims to achieve the following objectives: (1) To describe the results of the target situation analysis of Hospitality students at the Lembaga Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Ariyanti. (2) To identify the student’s need for the materials for Hospitality students at the Lembaga Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Ariyanti. This research used a qualitative approach. In its implementation, a case study was employed as the research design, and descriptive research was used as a technique. The data was collected through a questionnaire and interviews. There are 25 participants. The questionnaire and interview were used to determine the needs of students’ Hospitality majors at Lembaga Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Ariyanti in learning English. The research reveals that the target hospitality students need to improve polite communication skills, particularly in speaking and listening, and expand their vocabulary for career success. Their main challenge is a lack of English practice, especially in speaking, making it the most difficult skill. The students are eager to master all four English skills and want to quickly enhance their vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. The results of the students’ need for the material show that Hospitality students need concise, clear learning materials that cover essential hospitality skills, including vocabulary, guest conversation, and basic grammar with pronunciation. They also require practical learning experiences with native speakers and a new learning environment outside the classroom. The students should seriously study general basic English during school to make it easier to improve their language level to the next level in a limited time. In addition, teachers should determine diverse learning methods and assess each student before teaching in order to find their needs successfully.
