Abstract

Aglaonema rotundum is one of ornamental plant that always have a large demand and their variation always wanted by the wider community. The used of chemical mutagent like EMS and physical mutagent like gamma ray irradiation is an alternative to get new variation. This research was aimed to study the best dosage of Ethyl Methane Sulfonate and Gamma Irradiation for Aglaonema rotundum by using in vitro methods. The research was carried out in July-October 2021 in Esha Flora Plant and Tissue Culture laboratory.This research using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 combination factor, the first factor is doses of EMS (Ethyl Methane Sulfonate) m0 (0 mg L-1control), m1 (20 mg L-1), m2 (25 mg L-1) and m3 (30 mg L-1). The second factor is dose of gamma ray irradiation, g0 (0 Gy control), g1 (30 Gy), g2 (60 Gy) and g3 (90 Gy). The research show that there’s no mutans plant find such as different colors in new leaf or shape. But EMS and Gamma ray irradiation give an effect such as decrease in time of shoots appearation, number og shoots, number of leaf, also various doses of EMS without gamma ray irradiation support time of roots appearation, and number of roots.
