Abstract

This paper aim to achieve the autonomous learning objective, and this is primarily due tothe fact that learners are more likely to experience motivation and engagement when given the autonomy to take charge of their learning. This reserach used qualitative approach. In its implementation, a case study was employed as the research design, and descriptive research was used as a technique. The research was carried out at Senior High School in Telukjambe Timur. The data was collected through an observations, questionnaire, and interviews. There are 41 participants. The observation were used to know the class situation when the teacher using autonomous strategie. While, The questionnaire and interview were used to determine the needs of autonomous learning for students in the class. The researcher reveals that the students needs to using autonomous learning for choosing their needs for study. Their main challage is a lack of English practice, especially in grammar, making it the most difficult skill. The research findings indicate that the teacher utilizes an autonomous learning methodology. The approach entailed establishing connections, facilitating access,broadening the range, and fostering social interaction in order to enhance motivation among students learning English as a foreign language. The result of the students, learning autonomous entails their recognizing individual learning needs and objectives, choosing the most efficient method, and evaluating their progress. This study recommends further research on autonomous learning and its influence on student motivation.
