Abstract
Mastering vocabulary is essential for language learning. Morover, innovative media can enhance students’ vocabulary skills. This research aimed to answer the formulation of the problem such as: (1) How is the student's vocabulary in class VII of MTs Al-Jawami before using SWM, (2) How is the students' vocabulary in class VII of MTs Al-Jawami after using SWM, and (3) Is there any significant difference in students' vocabulary before and after using SWM. The study utilized a quantitative pre-experimental design involving 20 seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Jawami, Bandung. Data were collected through pretest, treatment using SWM, and posttest assessments. The findings indicated that (1) the pretest results showed an average vocabulary score of 40, with the highest score of 60 and the lowest score of 20, reflecting a less-than-optimal vocabulary level, (2) the post-test results revealed a marked improvement with an average score of 85, a highest score of 100, and a lowest score of 65, demonstrating optimal vocabulary skills after the intervention, and (3) statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Match Pair test indicated a significant difference in vocabulary skills, with a p-value of 0.000, rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis. In conclusion, the use of spinner wheel media significantly enhanced students' vocabulary skills. This innovative approach provided an engaging learning experience, suggesting its potential as an effective strategy for language educators to improve vocabulary acquisition among students.
