Abstract

INDONESIA : Makna Hidup adalah suatu hal yang menjadi pegangan seseorang dalam menjalani hidup, namun tidak banyak manusia yang merasakan kebermaknaan dalam hidupnya. Tidak terkecuali bagi mahasiswa yang pada titik tertentu akan menghadapi keputusan tentang komitmen terhadap agama mereka, apakah agama menjadi bagian dari makna hidup mereka atau tidak. Agama memiliki potensi yang sangat besar dalam menciptakan makna hidup yang komprehensif. Namun, perbedaan dalam motivasi beragama akan menghasilkan dampak yang tentunya bervariasi. Orientasi intrinsik melibatkan pengalaman mendalam terhadap agama, sehingga seseorang dapat menginternalisasi dan memberikan makna hidup berdasarkan agama. Sebaliknya, orientasi ekstrinsik bersifat utilitarian, di mana agama digunakan sebagai alat tanpa menghubungkan makna hidup secara mendalam dengan agama tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh orientasi religus terhadap makna hidup pada klien mahasiswa di Unit Layanan Psikologi Bandung. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis regresi linear berganda. Jumlah subjek penelitian adalah 84 klien mahasiswa di Unit Layanan Psikologi Bandung yang berkonsultasi pada tahun 2023-2024. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan orientasi intrinsik terhadap makna hidup. Namun tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan orientasi ekstrinsik terhadap makna hidup klien mahasiswa di Unit Layanan Psikologi Bandung. ENGLISH : The meaning of life is a fundamental aspect that guides individuals through their existence. However, not many people experience a profound sense of meaning in their lives. This is also true for students who, at certain points, face decisions about their commitment to their religion and whether it constitutes a significant part of their life's meaning. Religion has substantial potential in providing a comprehensive sense of meaning. However, differences in religious motivation can lead to varied impacts. Intrinsic orientation involves a deep personal experience with religion, allowing individuals to internalize and derive meaning from it. Conversely, extrinsic orientation is utilitarian, where religion is used as a tool without a deep connection to the meaning of life. This study aims to explore the influence of religious orientation on the sense of meaning in life among student clients at the Bandung Psychological Services Unit. The research design is quantitative, utilizing multiple linear regression analysis. The study sample consists of 84 student clients from the Bandung Psychological Services Unit who sought counseling in 2023-2024. The findings indicate a significant impact of intrinsic religious orientation on the sense of meaning in life. However, no significant impact of extrinsic religious orientation on the sense of meaning in life was found among the student clients at the Bandung Psychological Services Unit.
