Abstract
Film dokumenter Factory Asia merupakan sebuah film yang mengisahkan tentang potret buram di balik sukses besar “industrialisasi” dalam meningkatkan kemajuan di bidang teknologi, ekonomi, dan investasi bagi negara-negara dunia ketiga yang justru berdampak pada hadirnya masalah-masalah sosial baru dan hadirnya kelompok-kelompok sosial seperti kelompok tersubordinat atau dalam menurut Gramsian disebut Subaltern. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana makna denotasi, konotasi, mitos representasi kelompok subaltern dalam film Factory Asia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes, adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan terdapat tiga makna sesuai dengan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Pertama makna Denotatif yang terdapat dalam film ini menunjukan adanya adegan buruh atau pekerja sebagai kelas masyoritas di kota-kota besar. Kedua makna konotasi berupa yang menunjukan buruh sebagai objek eksploitatif kelas elit. Ketiga, makna mitos, yang menggambarkan bahwa industrialisasi selalu membawa penderitaan bagi buruh. Hadirnya penelitian ini diharap mampu memberikan nilai-nilai komunikasi dalam sebuah film dokumenter. The film documentary Factory Asia is a film that tells about the fuzzy portrait behind the great success of "industrialization" in advancing technological, economic and investment for third world countries which has an impact on the presence of new social problems and the presence of groups of people, social groups such as subordinate groups or in the Gramsian are called Subaltern.This research uses Roland Barthes semiotics analysis method, The purpose of this research is to know how the meaning of denotation, connotation, mythical representation of subaltern group in film Factory Asia. The results of this study show there are three meanings in accordance with semiotics analysis Roland Barthes. First Denotative meaning contained in this film shows the existence of a scene of workers or workers as a class masyoritas in big cities. The two meanings of connotation are those that show labor as an exploitative object of the elite class. Third, the meaning of myth, which illustrates that industrialization always brings suffering to the workers.
