Abstract
ENGLISH: The latest pandemic, Covid-19, has drawn a lot of attention since it started in Indonesia, particularly in West Kalimantan. Since its first emergence, the pandemic has disrupted a number of industries, including the economy. Because of this, Indonesia could plunge into a deep recession. Real GDP falls for two quarters in a row, indicating a recession. A recession occurred in Indonesia in 1997–1998; however, this time, the health sector (the COVID-19 epidemic) is the primary reason of the recession rather than economic problems. To confirm if a recession is occurring, it is necessary to look at macroeconomic indicators, historical events, the effects of current policy, and other data. Macroeconomic indicators, which serve as benchmarks for gauging economic growth, reflect the challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic, as demonstrated by the real GDP contraction of 5.32% in the second quarter of 2020. In response, a variety of health and economic measures have been implemented to address the ensuing issues. Implementing appropriate measures that can address the current problems (the COVID-19 virus) while also taking into account the resulting economic effects is therefore essential.
