Abstract

INDONESIA : Tugas Perkembangan yang tak kalah pentigngnya bagi dewasa awal adalah menjalin dan membina hubungan. Apabila individu gagal dalam membentuk keintiman, maka ia dapat mengalami apa yang disebut dengan isolasi yaitu merasa tersisihkan dari orang lain, kesepian, menyalahkan diri karena merasa berbeda dengan orang lain. Hubungan dengan teman menjadi salah satu hubungan yang dapat mencegah individu untuk merasakan kesepian. Pertemanan bisa terbentuk karena memiliki suatu kesamaan, salah satunya adalah humor. Berbagi humor tertentu yang hanya dimengerti oleh kedua pihak dapat membantu membangun keintiman dalam hubungan pertemanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari apakah terdapat hubungan sense of humor dengan intimate friendship pada masa emerging adulthood. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan terkumpul sampel sebanyak 378 responden. Instrument yang digunakan adalah Multidimensional Sense of Humor (MSHS) dan Intimate Friendship Scale. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara sense of humor dengan intimate friendship pada emerging adulthood memiliki nilai korelasi sebesar 0.398 dan bernilai positif. ENGLISH : The development task that is equally important for early adults is to establish and nurture relationship. If individuals fail to form intimacy, they may experience what is referred to as isolation, which includes feeling excluded from others, loneliness, and self-blame for feeling different from others. Relationship with friends are one the connections that can prevent individuals from experiencing loneliness. Friendship can form due to shared interest, one of which is humor. Sharing specific humor that is only understood by both parties can help build intimacy in friendship. This study aims to investigate whether there is a relationship between sense of humor and intimate friends during emerging adulthood. The research employs a quantitative method, using questionnaires for data collection, with a sample size of 378 respondents. The instrument used are the Multidimensional Sense of Humor (MSHS) and Intimate Friendship Scale. The result indicate that there is a relationship between sense of humor and intimate friendship in emerging adulthood, with a correlation value of 0.398, indicating a positive relationship.
