Abstract

INDONESIA: Persaingan antar lembaga pendidikan yang semakin ketat membuat setiap sekolah harus terus meningkatkan kualitas pembelajarannya, terutama dalam penguasaan bahasa asing yang sangat penting untuk menghadapi tantangan global. Salah satu cara untuk mencapainya adalah dengan menerapkan program bilingual class yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Namun keberhasilan program ini sangat bergantung pada manajemen program yang dijalankan dengan baik di setiap tahapannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) Manajemen program bilingual class di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru Kota Bandung; 2) Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru Kota Bandung; 3) Pengaruh manajemen program bilingual class terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi kuesioner/angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi uji instrumen (validitas dan reliabilitas), analisis parsial per-indikator, analisis asumsi klasik (uji normalitas dan linearitas), serta uji hipotesis (uji regresi linear sederhana, uji T, dan koefisien determinasi). Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Manajemen program bilingual class di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru memperoleh nilai rata-rata 2,92 termasuk kategori cukup baik; 2) Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 2,96 termasuk kategori cukup baik; 3) Hasil keseluruhan menunjukkan bahwa manajemen program bilingual class berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru Kota Bandung dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 dan nilai t hitung 15,508 > t tabel 1,67591. Adapun nilai R Square sebesar 0,828 menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh manajemen program bilingual class terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 82,8%, sedangkan sisanya 17,2% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain, seperti metode pengajaran, lingkungan belajar, dan motivasi siswa. Dengan demikian, semakin baik manajemen program bilingual class yang diterapkan, semakin meningkat pula kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa di SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru Kota Bandung. ENGLISH: The increasingly tight competition between educational institutions makes every school must continue to improve the quality of its learning, especially in mastering foreign languages which are very important to face global challenges. One way to achieve this is to implement a bilingual class program that aims to improve students' English competence. However, the success of this program is highly dependent on the program management that is carried out well at every stage. This study aims to determine: 1) Management of the bilingual class program at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru, Bandung City; 2) English competence of students at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru, Bandung City; 3) The effect of bilingual class program management on students' English competence at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru, Bandung City. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used in this study include questionnaires, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include instrument testing (validity and reliability), partial analysis per indicator, classical assumption analysis (normality and linearity tests), and hypothesis testing (simple linear regression test, T test, and coefficient of determination). Based on the results of statistical analysis, it shows that: 1) The management of the bilingual class program at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru obtained an average value of 2.92, including a fairly good category; 2) Students' English competence obtained an average value of 2.96, including a fairly good category; 3) The overall results show that the management of the bilingual class program has a positive and significant effect on students' English competence at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru, Bandung City with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 and a t-count value of 15.508> t table 1.67591. The R Square value of 0.828 shows that the influence of the bilingual class program management on students' English competence is 82.8%, while the remaining 17.2% is influenced by other factors, such as teaching methods, learning environment, and student motivation. Thus, the better the management of the bilingual class program that is implemented, the more the student's English competence at SMP Labschool UPI Cibiru, Bandung City will increase.
