Abstract

INDONESIA: Industri perhotelan sebagai bagian dari sektor jasa menempatkan karyawan sebagai aset utama dalam menciptakan layanan berkualitas. Di Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung, tantangan komunikasi internal muncul dalam membangun hubungan kerja yang harmonis di tengah perbedaan tugas dan tanggung jawab antar divisi. Fenomena ini menunjukkan pentingnya komunikasi internal dalam mendukung kelancaran koordinasi, menumbuhkan kepercayaan antara karyawan dan manajemen, serta membangun budaya kerja yang kolaboratif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana implementasi komunikasi internal meliputi komunikasi arus ke bawah, ke atas, dan sejajar berperan dalam membangun Employee Relations di Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung, berdasarkan konsep komunikasi internal yang dikemukakan oleh Roesady Ruslan. Penelitian menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme, pendekatan kualitatif, dan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatoris pasif, serta dokumentasi terhadap aktivitas komunikasi di lingkungan kerja hotel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung telah mengimplementasikan komunikasi internal secara efektif melalui tiga bentuk: (1) komunikasi downward melalui briefing, arahan rutin, dan media internal; (2) komunikasi upward melalui diskusi informal dan forum aspirasi; serta (3) komunikasi sideways melalui kegiatan kolaboratif dan komunikasi interpersonal terbuka. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga konsep utama yaitu: Komunikasi Internal, Komunikasi Organisasi, dan Employee Relations. Ketiganya saling terintegrasi dalam menciptakan hubungan kerja yang harmonis dan mendukung produktivitas organisasi. ENGLISH: As part of the service industry, the hospitality sector places employees as its key asset in delivering high-quality services. At Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung, internal communication challenges arise in building harmonious work relationships amidst differences in roles and responsibilities among divisions. This phenomenon highlights the importance of internal communication in ensuring smooth coordination, fostering trust between employees and management, and creating a collaborative work culture. This study aims to explore how the implementation of internal communication including downward, upward, and sideways communication contributes to building Employee Relations at Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung, based on the internal communication concept by Roesady Ruslan. The study applies a constructivist paradigm, qualitative approach, and descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, passive participatory observation, and documentation of communication activities within the hotel. The results show that Grand Cordela Hotel Bandung has effectively implemented internal communication through three forms: (1) downward communication via regular briefings, directives, and internal media; (2) upward communication through informal discussions and employee feedback forums; and (3) sideways communication through collaborative activities and open interpersonal dialogue. This research applies three main concepts: Internal Communication, Organizational Communication, and Employee Relations. These concepts are integrated to foster harmonious work relationships and enhance organizational productivity.
