Abstract

Praktikum pada saat pandemi Covid-19 tidak dapat dilakukan seperti seharusnya. Praktikum merupakan bagian inti yang bisa menambah proses pemahaman kimia, salah satu materi yang perlu pelaksaan praktikum yaitu sintesis senyawa nitrogen. Sebagai alternatif pelaksanaan praktikum dapat dilakukan melalui laboratorium virtual. Pengoptimalan laboratorium virtual berbasis android dapat dilakukan dengan menambahkan nilai karakter dalam prosesnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menerapkan laboratorium virtual berbasis karakter untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa pada praktikum sintesis senyawa nitrogen. Pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian pre experiment desain one group pretest posttest design. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan soal pretest-postest, lembar kerja mahasiswa, dan lembar observasi kegiatan mahasiswa. Soal pretest-posttest terdiri dari 25 soal akademik dan 15 soal karakter, hasil analisis data terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar mahasiswa setelah diterapkannya laboratorium virtual berbasis karakter. Berdasarkan hasil uji-t dari data pretest-posttest dengan nilai t-tabel 2,06 yaitu 4,039 maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Hasil belajar nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,33. Kedua aspek tersebut memiliki peningkatan dengan kategori sedang. Maka dari itu terdapat perubahan yang cukup signifikan terhadap hasil belajar kognitif mahasiswa setelah penerapan laboratorium virtual. Practical work during the Covid-19 pandemic cannot be carried out as intended. Practical work is a core component that can enhance the understanding of chemistry. One of the materials requiring practical work is the synthesis of nitrogen compounds. As an alternative, practical work can be conducted through a virtual laboratory. Optimizing the Android-based virtual laboratory can be done by adding character values to the process. This study aims to implement a character-based virtual laboratory to improve student learning outcomes in the nitrogen compound synthesis lab. The approach used was a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental, one-group, pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques used pretest-posttest questions, student worksheets, and student activity observation sheets. The pretest-posttest questions consisted of 25 academic questions and 15 character questions. Data analysis showed an increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of the character-based virtual laboratory. Based on the t-test results from the pretest-posttest data, with a t-table value of 2.06 (4.039), Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The learning outcome N-Gain value was 0.33. Both aspects showed moderate improvement. Therefore, there was a significant change in students' cognitive learning outcomes after the implementation of the virtual laboratory.
