Abstract

Writing a thesis is an obligation for all students to complete as a requirement for graduation from the lecture level. However, students often face problems in the process such as the slow completion process due to the complexity of the thesis writing process which is a major challenge for students, especially in choosing topics, conducting literature reviews, managing time, and overcoming obstacles. This study aims to understand the level of use of Bing AI by students in thesis writing, explore students' experiences and opinions regarding the effectiveness of Bing AI, and evaluate its influence on the quality of their writing results. The study employs a qualitative study case approach to explore students' experiences in using Bing AI in thesis background writing. The study was conducted in Bandung, Indonesia. The research instruments for this study were interviews and questionnaires. The participants for this research was consist of four students who were not completed writing thesis for interviews and 20 participants who were finished writing thesis and using Bing AI for questionnaire. The results showed that students mostly have positive experience in using Bing AI as aid tools for writing the background chapter. However, the findings also show that the successful use of Bing AI is highly dependent on students' ability to design appropriate prompts and critique the AI output before it is used in academic writing as it also shows that Bing can make mistakes if not used properly and constantly giving more work for the students. This research highlights the role of Bing AI in the context of thesis writing introduction chapter by university students. The utilisation of interviews and questionnaires provided a comprehensive understanding of how technology can be utilised as a tool to ease students' workload. It helps finish the introduction chapter. However, when using Bing AI, human intervention is necessary to keep students’ critical thinking in writing academic. In addition, educational institutions and lecturers are expected to provide training and socialisation regarding the use of AI in academic writing in order to utilise technology ethically. Future research can explore other aspects such as ethicality, impact, etc. This research has practical implications for teachers and students in responding to the use of Bing AI.Kata Kunci : Sistem Informasi Akuntansi, Audit Internal, Fraud Prevention, PT.BPRS ALMASOEM
