Abstract
This study was motivated by the fact that some students at SMAN1 Mande in XII grade had difficulties in learning English vocabulary. In solving the problem, Instagram was chosen as media for learning vocabulary. The research was aimed (1) to describe the result of Improving students‟ vocabulary before given treatment by using Instagram (2) to describe the result of improving students vocabulary after given treatment by using Instagram and (3) to find out the significant different before and after given treatment by using Instagram. The pre-experimental study was conducted at 12th grade students ofSMAN 1 Mande Cianjur. The participants consist of 36 students of XII Science-1 as the experimental class. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was given before treatment and post-test was given after treatment. The result of this study can be seen from the mean of the experimental class. The mean of pre-test before given the treatment is 52.61 and the mean score of post-test is 65.44. Therefore, the calculation in testingit is known that t0 11.78 and ttable 1.75. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and (H1) is accepted. It means that there is significant in mastering students‟ vocabulary. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of using Instagram in improving students‟ vocabulary. The reseacher suggests that this method can be used in learning English to improve vocabulary. Keyword: Caption, Instagram, Reading, Vocabulary
