Abstract

INDONESIA: Penelitian ini merupakan studi kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dinamika pemikiran dan praksis Teologi Pembebasan Yahudi dalam lanskap konflik Israel-Palestina, khususnya melalui perspektif para pemuka agama Yahudi kontemporer. Fokus utama terletak pada bagaimana nilai-nilai etika dan spiritual dalam tradisi Yahudi digunakan untuk merespons ketidakadilan struktural dan kekerasan politik yang berlangsung di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini dilandasi oleh kebutuhan untuk memahami kontribusi pemikiran keagamaan yang progresif dalam merumuskan narasi alternatif atas dominasi ideologis dan militer di kawasan konflik. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini mencakup tiga pertanyaan utama: (1) Bagaimana konstruksi dan konfigurasi pemikiran Teologi Pembebasan Yahudi terbentuk di kalangan pemuka agama Yahudi? (2) Bagaimana dinamika penerimaan dan perdebatan intra-komunal terhadap teologi ini? (3) Bagaimana implikasi dari keragaman pemikiran tersebut terhadap keterlibatan keagamaan dalam konflik Israel-Palestina? Pertanyaan-pertanyaan ini dijawab melalui pendekatan kualitatif yang memadukan studi literatur intensif, telaah atas dokumen-dokumen teologis, serta wawancar akademik yang terstruktur dengan para tokoh agama dan intelektual Yahudi terpilih. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: pertama, untuk memetakan evolusi dan karakter pemikiran Teologi Pembebasan Yahudi sebagaimana dikembangkan oleh Marc H. Ellis dan para pemikir sehaluan; kedua, untuk mengidentifikasi ragam respons yang muncul di kalangan pemuka agama Yahudi terhadap wacana pembebasan tersebut; dan ketiga, untuk menganalisis sejauh mana pemikiran ini membentuk partisipasi keagamaan dalam proses transformasi sosial dan advokasi keadilan bagi rakyat Palestina. Ketiga tujuan ini menjadi dasar dalam menyusun kerangka konseptual dan metodologis penelitian. Penelitian ini ditopang oleh tiga perspektif teoritis utama: pertama, Teologi Pembebasan Yahudi yang dirumuskan oleh Marc H. Ellis, yang menjadi fondasi normatif bagi etika solidaritas dan resistensi dalam tradisi Yahudi; kedua, teori Gerakan Sosial Keagamaan yang dikembangkan oleh Quintan Wiktorowicz, yang memfasilitasi pemahaman terhadap proses artikulasi ideologis dan mobilisasi keagamaan; dan ketiga, teori Konflik Struktural oleh Johan Galtung, yang digunakan untuk membaca relasi kuasa dan bentuk-bentuk kekerasan simbolik maupun sistemik yang menyertai konflik. Ketiganya digunakan secara integratif untuk membangun analisis yang komprehensif terhadap fenomena yang dikaji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Teologi Pembebasan Yahudi hadir sebagai wacana tandingan yang menawarkan reorientasi moral dan politik atas posisi komunitas Yahudi dalam konflik Israel-Palestina. Terdapat spektrum pemikiran yang luas, mulai dari ekspresi spiritualitas yang mendalam hingga keterlibatan langsung dalam gerakan solidaritas global. Di satu sisi, pemikiran ini menjadi dasar pembelaan terhadap hak-hak rakyat Palestina, sementara di sisi lain, ia juga memicu resistensi dari kelompok Yahudi yang memegang teguh narasi Zionis arus utama. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa agama bukanlah entitas tunggal yang statis, melainkan ruang dialektika yang dinamis dalam merespons realitas ketidakadilan dan kekerasan struktural. ENGLISH: This study is a qualitative inquiry aimed at exploring the dynamics of thought and praxis within Jewish Liberation Theology in the landscape of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly through the perspectives of contemporary Jewish religious leaders. The central focus lies in examining how ethical and spiritual values embedded in Jewish tradition are employed in responding to structural injustice and political violence occurring in the region. The research is grounded in the need to understand the contributions of progressive religious thought in formulating alternative narratives to prevailing ideological and military dominance within conflict zones. The research addresses three main questions: (1) How is the construction and configuration of Jewish Liberation Theology shaped among Jewish religious leaders? (2) What are the dynamics of intra-communal acceptance and debate regarding this theological discourse? (3) What are the implications of this diversity of thought for religious engagement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? These questions are examined using a qualitative approach that integrates intensive literature study, analysis of theological documents, and structured academic dialogues with selected Jewish religious and intellectual figures. The objectives of this research are threefold: first, to map the evolution and character of Jewish Liberation Theology as developed by Marc H. Ellis and other aligned thinkers; second, to identify the range of responses that emerge among Jewish religious leaders toward this liberation discourse; and third, to analyze the extent to which this theological framework informs religious participation in social transformation processes and the advocacy of justice for the Palestinian people. These objectives form the foundation of the research’s conceptual and methodological framework. The study is supported by three primary theoretical perspectives: first, Marc H. Ellis's formulation of Jewish Liberation Theology, which provides a normative foundation for an ethic of solidarity and resistance within the Jewish tradition; second, the theory of Religious Social Movements developed by Quintan Wiktorowicz, which facilitates an understanding of ideological articulation and religious mobilization; and third, Johan Galtung’s Structural Conflict theory, which is used to interpret power relations and the symbolic as well as systemic forms of violence embedded in the conflict. These three frameworks are applied integratively to construct a comprehensive analysis of the studied phenomenon. The findings reveal that Jewish Liberation Theology emerges as a counter-discourse offering both moral and political reorientation for the Jewish community's stance in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A wide spectrum of thought is observed, ranging from deep expressions of spirituality to active participation in global solidarity movements. On one hand, this theology serves as a foundation for advocating Palestinian rights, while on the other, it provokes resistance from Jewish groups who adhere firmly to mainstream Zionist narratives. These findings affirm that religion is not a singular, static entity but a dynamic dialectical space actively responding to the realities of injustice and structural violence. ARABIC: تهدف هذه الدراسة النوعية إلى استكشاف ديناميات الفكر والممارسة في لاهوت التحرير اليهودي ضمن سياق الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني، لا سيما من خلال وجهات نظر القادة الدينيين اليهود المعاصرين. تركز الدراسة على كيفية توظيف القيم الأخلاقية والروحية المتجذّرة في التقاليد اليهودية في الاستجابة للظلم البنيوي والعنف السياسي السائد في المنطقة. وتنبع هذه الدراسة من الحاجة إلى فهم إسهامات الفكر الديني التقدّمي في صياغة سرديات بديلة تواجِه الهيمنة الإيديولوجية والعسكرية في مناطق النزاع. تتناول الدراسة ثلاثة أسئلة رئيسية: (1) كيف يتم تشكيل بناء وتكوين لاهوت التحرير اليهودي في أوساط القادة الدينيين اليهود؟ (2) ما هي ديناميات القبول والجدل الداخلي داخل المجتمع اليهودي تجاه هذا اللاهوت؟ (3) ما هي انعكاسات هذا التنوع الفكري على المشاركة الدينية في الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني؟ تتم معالجة هذه الأسئلة من خلال منهج نوعي يدمج بين الدراسة المكثفة للأدبيات، وتحليل الوثائق اللاهوتية، والحوار الأكاديمي المنهجي مع عدد من الشخصيات الدينية والمفكرين اليهود المختارين. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحقيق ثلاثة أهداف رئيسية: أولاً، رسم خريطة لتطوّر وطبيعة فكر لاهوت التحرير اليهودي كما صاغه مارك إتش. إليس ومَن هم على خطاه من المفكرين؛ ثانياً، تحديد أنماط الاستجابات المتنوعة التي ظهرت لدى القادة الدينيين اليهود تجاه خطاب التحرير هذا؛ وثالثاً، تحليل مدى إسهام هذا الفكر في تشكيل المشاركة الدينية في عمليات التحوّل الاجتماعي والدعوة إلى العدالة لصالح الشعب الفلسطيني. وتشكّل هذه الأهداف الأساس في بناء الإطار المفاهيمي والمنهجي للدراسة. تستند الدراسة إلى ثلاثة أطر نظرية رئيسية: أولاً، لاهوت التحرير اليهودي كما صاغه مارك إتش. إليس، والذي يشكل الأساس المعياري لأخلاقيات التضامن والمقاومة ضمن التقليد اليهودي؛ ثانياً، نظرية الحركات الاجتماعية الدينية التي طوّرها كوينتن ويكتوروفيتش، والتي تسهّل فهم آليات التعبير الإيديولوجي والتعبئة الدينية؛ وثالثاً، نظرية الصراع البنيوي ليـوهاـن غالتونغ، والتي تُستخدم لتحليل علاقات القوة وأشكال العنف الرمزي والهيكلي الملازمة للصراع. وتُوظّف هذه الأطر الثلاثة بشكل تكاملي لبناء تحليل شامل للظاهرة المدروسة. أظهرت نتائج البحث أن لاهوت التحرير اليهودي يبرز كخطاب بديل يعيد توجيه الموقف الأخلاقي والسياسي للجماعة اليهودية إزاء الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني. ويتضمن هذا اللاهوت طيفاً واسعاً من الأفكار يتراوح بين تعبيرات روحية عميقة ومشاركة فعالة في حركات التضامن العالمية. فمن جهة، يشكّل هذا الفكر أساساً للدفاع عن حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني، ومن جهة أخرى، يثير مقاومة من قبل جماعات يهودية متمسكة بالسرديات الصهيونية السائدة. وتؤكد هذه النتائج أن الدين ليس كياناً أحادياً أو ثابتاً، بل فضاءً جدلياً حيوياً يتفاعل بعمق مع واقع الظلم والعنف البنيوي
