Abstract

Dalam proses menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi, mahasiswa rantau memiliki banyak tantangan yang harus dihadapi, salah satunya adalah homesickness. Homesickness merupakan suatu emosi negatif yang muncul akibat perpisahan antara individu dengan rumah dan orang-orang yang ada di dalamnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh emotional maturity dan friendship quality terhadap homesickness pada mahasiswa asal Sumatera Utara di Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik stratified random sampling. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 100 responden yang merupakan mahasiswa asal Sumatera Utara di Bandung. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah regresi linier berganda dengan melakukan pengujian asumsi klasik terlebih dahulu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh emotional maturity dan friendship quality terhadap homesickness pada mahasiswa asal Sumatera Utara di Bandung dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0.395 atau 39.5%. Pursuing higher education often presents numerous challenges for students who migrate from their hometowns, one of which is homesickness. Homesickness is characterized as a negative emotional state resulting from separation from one’s home and the significant individuals within it. This study aims to investigate the influence of emotional maturity and friendship quality on homesickness among students from North Sumatra residing in Bandung. A quantitative research approach was employed, using stratified random sampling techniques. The sample consisted of 100 respondents, all of whom are North Sumatran students currently studying in Bandung. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, preceded by classical assumption testing. The findings indicate that both emotional maturity and friendship quality significantly influence the level of homesickness, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.395 or 39.5%.
