Abstract
ENGLISH The increasing number of motorcycle theft cases in Indonesia highlights the need for additional security systems that are effective and easy to implement. This study aims to design and implement a digital locking system for motorcycles based on fingerprint authentication using the R503 fingerprint sensor and Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller. The system operates on the principle that only users whose fingerprints have been previously registered in the sensor's memory can activate the motorcycle's ignition through relay control. The system hardware consists of the R503 fingerprint sensor, Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller, relay as a current control actuator, and LM2596 step-down module as the system's power supply. Testing was carried out to evaluate each component's function, the overall system performance, and the response time. The test results show that the LM2596 step-down module can maintain a stable output voltage despite variations in the input voltage from the motorcycle battery. The R503 fingerprint sensor functions effectively in identifying and verifying registered fingerprints and can automatically enter enrollment mode when the master fingerprint (ID = 2) is detected. Additionally, the relay performs optimally in connecting and disconnecting the electrical current according to the microcontroller's control, and the system demonstrated an average response time of 1.11 seconds. Based on these results, the designed fingerprint-based digital locking system is proven to enhance motorcycle security and is considered suitable for implementation as an additional safety feature for motorcycles.
