Abstract
Illocutionary acts are a form of speech act that refers to the intention or goal that the speaker wants to achieve through his speech. This research applies descriptive qualitative methods based on Searle's (1976) theory to analyze the types of illocutionary speech acts and functions of illocutionary speech acts, on the YouTube channel India Global Forum with Omar Sultan Al Olama. The results of the research show that there are four types of illocutionary speech acts found in 45 utterances, namely representative found in 27 data, directive found in 12 data, commissive found in 1 data, and expressive found in 5 data, while no data was found which was classified as a declarative type. The second objective is to describe the function of illocutionary speech acts. Representative illocutionary acts consist of 17 data stating, 6 data informing, 2 data reporting, and 2 data suggesting. The directive illocutionary act consists of 5 data asking, 4 data questioning, 2 data inviting, and 1 data commanding. The commissive illocutionary act consists of 1 promising data. The expressive illocutionary act consists of 4 praise data and 1 greeting data. No data was found for declarative illocutionary acts. The researcher concluded that the most dominant type of illocutionary speech act in Host and Omar Sultan Al Olama's speech was representative. Apart from that, the function of the illocutionary act that is most often used is the function of the illocutionary act of stating. The use of illocutions in the interview reflects communicative goals regarding bilateral relations and developments in AI technology.
