Abstract

INDONESIA: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas media pembelajaran Augmented Reality (AR) berbasis inquiry learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi virus. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design yang melibatkan dua kelas, yaitu kelas X-A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X-B sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, tes pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis, serta angket untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap penggunaan media AR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis yang signifikan pada kelas eksperimen dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05). Perhitungan N-gain sebesar 0,88 termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, yang menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan secara substansial setelah penerapan media AR berbasis inquiry learning. Keterlaksanaan pembelajaran tergolong sangat baik dengan persentase 91%, menunjukkan bahwa tahapan pembelajaran berjalan sesuai perencanaan. Aspek berpikir kritis yang paling berkembang adalah kemampuan membuat penjelasan sederhana dengan nilai N-gain 0,83. Selain itu, respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran menunjukkan hasil positif sebesar 88,17%. Dengan demikian, media AR berbasis inquiry learning terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi virus. ENGLISH: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Augmented Reality (AR) learning media based on inquiry learning in improving students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of viruses. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design involving two classes, namely Class X-A as the control group and Class X-B as the experimental group. Data were collected through observation sheets to measure the implementation of learning activities, pretest and posttest instruments to assess the improvement of critical thinking skills, and questionnaires to determine students’ responses to the use of AR media. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills in the experimental class, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The N-gain score of 0.88 was categorized as high, indicating a substantial increase after the implementation of AR-based inquiry learning media. The implementation of learning activities reached 91%, categorized as very good, showing that the learning stages were carried out as planned. The most improved aspect of critical thinking was the ability to provide simple explanations, with an N-gain score of 0.83. In addition, students’ responses to the learning process were positive, reaching 88.17%. Therefore, AR-based inquiry learning media is proven effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills on virus material
