Abstract

This research describes word formation process and meaning of slang found in Fast and Furious 7th Movie. The problems of this research are formulated into two questions: how are the word formation process of the slang constructed in Fast and Furious 7th Movie and what are the type meaning of those constructed slangs found in Fast and Furious 7th Movie. This research is supported by theory from Yule (2006), and theory from Leech (1981) to answer the questions. Then qualitative research and descriptive method are used in this research. The data were taken from movie and movie script of Fast and Furious 7th . The steps of data analysis included: 1) Data Reduction 2) Data Display 3) Conclusion. The result showed that there are three main categories of word formation of slangs words found in Fast and Furious 7th Movie, 1) Compounding (16 data), Some of them are divided into several subcategories that are derived from endocentric compound, exocentric compound and covulative compound 2) Blending (7 data); 3) Clipping (3 data). In relation to the meaning of slang found in the Fast and Furious 7th Movie, it was found that the meaning does not only used slang dictionary but also use theories of meaning. There are five types of meaning found, 1) Conceptual meaning (10 data); 2) Stylistic meaning (8 data); 3) Reflective meaning (3 data); 4) Connotative meaning (2 data) and 5) Affective meaning (2 data). Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan proses pembentukan kata dan arti kata slang dalam film Fast and Furious ke 7. Masalah penelitian ini dirumuskan menjadi dua pertanyaan: bagaimana proses pembentukan kata slang yang dibangun di Film Fast and Furious ke 7 dan apa tipe arti dari kata slang yang dibangun yang ditemukan di Film Fast and Furious ke 7. Penelitian ini didukung teori dari Yule (2006), Leech (1981) untuk menjawab pertanyaan. Kemudian penelitian kualitatif dan metode deskriptif digunakan untuk penelitian ini. Langkah-langkah analisis data meliputi: 1) pengurangan data 2) penampilan data 3) kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan ada tiga kategori utama dari pembentukan kata kata slang yang ditemukan, 1) Majemuk (16 data), Beberapa dari mereka dibagi menjadi beberapa subkategori: majemuk endosentric, majemuk exocentric dan majemuk covulative 2) Campuran (7 data); 3) Potongan (3 data). Dalam kaitanya dengan makna slang yang ditemukan dalam Fast and Furious 7th Movie, tidak hanya menggunakan kamus slang tetapi juga menggunakan teori makna. Kesimpulannya ada lima jenis makna yang ditemukan, 1) Makna konseptual (10 data); 2) makna gaya (8 data); 3) makna reflektif (3 data); 4) Makna konotatif (2 data), dan 5) Makna afektif (2 data).
