Abstract

One of the essential skills in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is listening comprehension. However, many students still struggle to understand spoken English due to limited vocabulary, unfamiliar pronunciation, fast speaking speed, and lack of exposure to authentic listening materials. This study aims to determine the use of the Educaplay Video Quiz in improving students' listening comprehension at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. This is because technology-based learning media such as the Educaplay Video Quiz offers an interactive and engaging learning experience that can help students improve their listening skills. This study employed a quantitative method. A pre-experimental design used a single-group pre-test and post-test. EFL students at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School participated. Pre- and post-treatment listening comprehension tests were used to collect data. During the treatment sessions, students engaged in interactive listening activities through the Educaplay Video Quiz, which was based on audio and video materials. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Educaplay Video Quiz improves students' listening comprehension. The paired sample t-test indicates that the alternative hypothesis is accepted because the mean post-test score is higher than the pre-test score, and the significance value is lower than 0.05. This improvement is also categorized as moderate based on the N-Gain analysis. These results indicate that the Educaplay video quiz helps students improve their listening comprehension. The results show that Educaplay video quizzes improve students' listening comprehension and can be considered an effective digital learning medium in EFL classrooms. This study suggests that English teachers integrate technology-based platforms into their teaching to make the learning experience more engaging and rewarding.
