Abstract
INDONESIA: Self-censorship adalah perilaku seseorang yang secara sadar membatasi, tidak memberikan informasi, atau pendapat yang dimilikinya meskipun tidak ada larangan resmi untuk menyampaikannya. Dalam lingkungan komunitas, perilaku ini bisa dipengaruhi oleh aturan kelompok, cara berinteraksi antar anggota, serta kemauan untuk menjaga keharmonisan komunitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap self-censorship yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam Komunitas Paramuda Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi, melibatkan tiga orang anggota aktif dari Komunitas Paramuda Indonesia yang dipilih melalui metode purposive sampling dan dianalisis dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga peserta memahami self-censorship sebagai cara untuk mengendalikan diri dalam menyampaikan pendapat, agar tetap menjaga hubungan antar anggota, keharmonisan dalam kelompok, serta keberlangsungan komunitas. ENGLISH: Self-censorship refers to the deliberate behavior of withholding or refraining from expressing one’s information or opinion despite the absence of any formal restriction on doing so. Within a community setting, this behavior may be influenced by group norms, patterns of interaction among members, and the desire to maintain harmony within the community. This study aimed to explore the self- censorship attitudes of university students who are members of the Paramuda Indonesia Community. This study employed a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method and involved three active members of the Paramuda Indonesia Community selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that all participants perceived self-censorship as a form of self-regulation in expressing their opinions in order to maintain interpersonal relationship, group harmony, and the sustainability of the community.
