Abstract

Narrative is one of study that discussed to explore the literature, especially the novel. The interesting story and characters, those must be discussed in the narrative. The underlying theory of this study is called Narratology. Narratology is very important to study of literature, especially English literature, that has been widely circulated. Those are including two popular classic novel by Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1962) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1994). Then, further, the interested one is the narrative technique need to compare both of them. This research method and approach is basically used structuralism. The researchers applied an approach of Gerrard Genette as a basic theory and research methods. The primary data of this research is the novel of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1962) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1994). This research also describes about the concept of narrative technique to analyze and solve the problems. The first novel is used third person limited point of view. It is included to voice ‘Heterodiegetic’. Its focalization is used external focalization. Prolepsis and analepsis has reached each chapters. Scene is the form of narrative time. And for the second novel is used first person point of view of 'I' and its is ‘omniscient’. It is included to voice of Homodiegetic. Its Focalization is used zero focalization. Prolepsis and analepsis has reached for each chapter. Summary is the narrative time. Then, both of novels have similarities and differences which those are sequel novel each other and lead to the existence of narrative realism because there is some statements that contained the truth. The similarities is started from some characters. Then, both novels have analepsis and prolepsis. The differences found in point of view, Focalization, and such narrative time.
