Abstract
This study is intended to the implementation of video as the media of teaching narrative text. It concerns on attaining teacher’s and students’ responses after teaching and learning the narrative text. The aspects are analyzed such as the students’ attitudes during learning in the classroom and the effect of the implementation of videos to their behavior seeing from the responses. This study uses a qualitative approach with case study method which involved one English teacher and seventeen participants of the eleventh grade in science major at MA Ibnu Rusyd Cinunuk Bandung. The participants were divided in three category achievements; low, middle, and high. The data of responses were gathered from interview and questionnaire. The result of this study could be seen from the teachers’ and the students’ responses after implementing the videos in learning narrative text. First, the teacher’ s response on the findings show that video was great to be used as media of teaching, but the content of videos must be appropriate with the students’ level. Meanwhile, the data from students are divided in two aspects; the dominant responses of their questionnaires and attitudes in the classroom. The dominant responses of students showed that they still have low motivation in learning narrative text in the classroom. Meanwhile, the students showed the positive attitudes in the process of learning in the classroom. Therefore, it is important for the teacher to select the appropriate content of narrative videos dealing with the students’ level or necessities in the classroom.
