Abstract

This research has analyzed about the stereotype and the struggle to reject the women stereotype of popular culture in Pitch Perfect 2. The research focuses on two problem, there are how women stereotype and struggle to reject the women stereotype of popular culture in Pitch Perfect 2. In analyzing the data researcher used feminist literary criticism of Beauvoir. Beauvoir’s theory explained about the image of women and also the ideal role of women. This research has used descriptive qualitative method. The result of this research is stereotype of popular culture in Pitch Perfect 2 appoint to Barden Bella in A Cappella World. The stereotypes are the oriented physical appearance of women and also unappreciated women’s dream and talent. Then the struggle to reject women stereotype of popular culture in Pitch Perfect 2 focused toward Barden Bella’s struggle in A Cappella World. That struggles are Barden Bella being achiever all-female A Cappella group. The other struggle is they make changes. These changes contain about the change of Barden Bella’s performance as the identity of their all-female A Cappella group. Other change is made by Barden Bella as renewal in A Cappella word.
