Abstract

You C1000 is a healthy drink product has marketed in Indonesia since November 2004. Through advertising, You C1000 wants to convey the message that this product helps women to maintain healthy and beauty, both are very important for women because they have interrelated relations, health in order to support various activities and beauty to be able to support the career. The researcher chooses You C1000 because brand ambassador in the advertisement is miss universe. Miss universe has become icon of the product since You C1000 comes as the new product, precisely on 2005 until now. Miss Universe is a symbol of women's beauty that has been recognized by the world. Seeing the condition like that, the researcher is interested in analyzing how the body image and idealized beauty in the advertisement. This study aims to find out how the body image and the concept of idealized beauty in You C1000 advertisement. The problem raised in this research is how the image of the female body and Idealized beauty in You C1000 advertisement. This research has used descriptive method to analyze the data. The data were obtained by the technique of document. They are the visual image, spoken word, and written text from You C1000 product advertisement. Researcher has collected data by taking picture in the video of advertisement based on category of data. One of them is the image of beautiful women and after that, it will be analyzed how the visual image, spoken language and written text in the data. The theory used is the theory by Showalter about the concept of feminism as well as body image and idealized beauty of Prabasmoro. The results of this research show that the body image in the advertisement is described with a thin body, with a high posture and especially has a healthy body. While idealized beauty itself is shown with clean fair skin, fashionable appearance and with the ideal body.
