Abstract
Kailan (Brassica oleracea) is one type of popular vegetable that testes good and has high nutrition. The research was conducted in Gununghalu since March until May 2015. The method used was experimental method pattern factorial two factors of Randomized Block Design with three replications. The first factor was the media composition (m) consisted of 4 levels: 1) topsoil : husk : cocopeat (1:1:1), (2) topsoil : husk : cocopeat (2:1:1), (3) topsoil : husk : cocopeat (1:2:1), (4) topsoil : husk : cocopeat (1:1:2). The second factor was dose of chicken manure consisted of 4 levels: (1) 0 ton ha-1, (2) 5 ton ha-1, (3) 10 ton ha-1, (4) 20 ton ha-1. Parameters of observation included plant height, leaf number, leaf area, root length, fresh weight per plant, dry weight per plant, harvest index and shoot root ratio. The results showed that there was no interaction between media composition and chicken manure on all parameters of observation. Treatment of media composition provided an independent effect on the plant height and fresh weight per plant with best result of media composition is topsoil : husk : cocopeat (1:2:1). The dose of chicken manure also provided an independent effect on parameters other than harvest index and shoot root ratio whit chicken manure dosages which produced most optimal value is 20 ton ha-1.
