Abstract

Knowledge is the success key in all aspects in many fields. The ability of person to compete in using technology that can improve the productivity and other superiorities, an important part in institutional or individual, is established with a mastery of science as a basic requirement to reach a goal. A mastery of knowledge that can’t be separated from educational result needs, indirectly, the improvements in the field of education. However, it needs to be considered that it doesn’t mean the existing human resources have no potential; on the contrary, there are many human resources that competence in many fields with various kinds of knowledge they own. Unfortunately, they are not supported by a good knowledge resource management. It causes as if the education can’t cover the needs of knowledge really. Informatika Universitas Islam Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung has the same problem in processing the knowledge resources. However, the development of information technology and some new systems in various fields are parts of the modern learning area and the starting point of the above problems. The application of knowledge management is created as one of media of knowledge that is expected to be able to manage and document the knowledge resources they own. Knowledge management itself is a concept of converting information into knowledge, then documenting it into the form that is available and easy to be used by anyone who wants to learn this documented knowledge. Then the established knowledge is shared by using the infrastructure of information technology so that it can produce a good, qualified, and competed thing. In this case, the author uses the method of Rational Unified Process (RUP), which is an iterative software development process. The final result of Knowledge Management created is to facilitate knowledge sharing, especially in academic field so it can become one of the media of knowledge in Informatika Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.
