Abstract

INDONESIA: Kebutuhan daging di Indonesia terus meningkat setiap tahunnya, sehingga produksi daging menjadi lebih tinggi. Salah satu faktor penting dalam produksi daging adalah pakan dan suplemen pakan. Pakan yang baik memiliki kandungan gizi yang seimbang. Umunya tepung ikan digunakan sebagai bahan utama pakan ternak, namun dengan meningkatnya kebutuhan pakan, harga tepung ikan jadi semakin tinggi. Peternak juga menggunakan suplemen pakan berupa antibiotik sintetis. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan maggot dari Hermetia illucens dapat dijadikan sumber protein alternatif dengan harga yang murah. Ekstrak propolis juga dapat digunakan sebagai antibiotik alami. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek dari pemberian ekstrak propolis dan penambahan tepung maggot H. illucens pada pakan ayam terhadap performa dan kecernaan ayam broiler. Penelitian kualitatif telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan 40 ekor ayam yang dibagi kedalam 4 perlakuan (P0= Kontrol; P1= ekstrak propolis 3%; P2= ekstrak propolis 3% + tepung maggot H. illucens 15%; P3= tepung maggot H. illucens 15%). Perlakuan diberikan pada usia ayam 14 hari hingga 28 hari. Hasil menunjukkan perlakuan P3 menunjukkan kenaikan bobot badan paling tinggi dengan nilai kenaikan 638.83 gram dan bobot badan akhir 979 gram, sedangkan perlakuan kontrol kenaikan bobot badan tercatat sebesar 595.39 gram dan bobot badan akhir 903 gram. Kecernaan dengan nilai tertinggi diraih oleh perlakuan P2 dengan nilai 68%, sedangkan nilai terendah didapat oleh perlakuan P0 dan P3 dengan nilai 66%. Hasil ini disebabkan oleh tingginya kandungan protein pada tepung maggot H. illucens dan ekstrak propolis yang meningkatkan kesehatan ayam broiler. ENGLISH: Meat consumption is increasing every year in Indonesia, so the meat production becomes higher. One important factors in meat production is feed and feed supplements. Feed with good quality has a balanced nutritional content. Fish meal is generally used as the main ingredient of animal feed, but the proce of fish meal become higher duet o the increasing needs of feed. Breeders also use dietary supplements in form of synthetic antibiotics. Some studies show maggot of Hermetia illucens can be used as an alternative source of protein with a cheaper price. Propolis extract can also be used as a natural antibiotic. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of provision of propolis extract and addition of H. illucens maggot flour to chicken feed on broiler performance and digestibility. Qualitative research has been done by using 40 chickens divided into 4 treatments (P0= control; P1= 3% propolis extract; P2= 3% propolis extract + 15% H. illucens maggot flour; P3= 15% H. illucens maggot flour). Treatment was given to the chicken at the age of 14 days to 28 days. Result indicates that P3 treatment showed the highest increase in body weight with value 638.83 grams and the final body weight 979 grams, whereas control treatment the weight gain was 595.39 grams and the final body weight 903 grams. The highest digestibility value was achieved by P2 treatment with 68%, while the lowest value was obtained by treatment P0 and P3 with 66%. This result is caused by high content of protein in H. illucens maggot flour and propolis extracts that improve the health of broiler chickens.
