Abstract

Speaking is very important for students in learning English language. In order to make students’ interest in learning English, the teacher should apply a suitable method and technique in teaching Speaking. Therefore, The use of video to improve students Speaking Skill could help the English teacher to make students’ more interested in teaching learning process. The research purposes are to find out (1) students’Speaking skill before using Youtube videos, (2) students’speaking skill after using Youtube videos, (3) the significant improvement of students’Speaking skill using Youtube videos at the ninth grade students of SMPN 1 Terisi Indramayu. The research method that there was an improvement in the students speaking skill. Some aspect which are improved included students’s fluency, vocabulary, pronounciation, grammar and content. Concluding the article, the result of the research and some activities in teaching and learning activities can help improve students’s speaking skill are reviewed. Quantitative approach was employed in this research, specifically using a quasi-experimental method. The quasi experimental method was implemented in three parts: pretest, treatments and posttest. There were 32 students were selected as the research samples. The samples were taught by using Youtube videos in learning process. Pretest and posttest were conducted to collect the data. It was aimed at finding the significant improvement of using Youtube videos on students’ Improve Their Speaking Skill in Procedure Text”. Statistical calculation was implemented in this research to analyze the collected data. The result of data analysis for students’speaking skill improvement could be seen from average score. From The data above shows the value of students in the experimental class from the pre-test and post-test, obtained the lowest pre-test value is 43 and the lowest post-test 68 and the highest pre-test value is 72 and the highest post-test score is 90 The mean value of the pre-test is 58.25 and the post-test is 79.22, the standard deviation of the pre-test is 58.76 and the post-test is 79.53. The teaching process of English, especially speaking activity using YouTube videos had a better impact on students of SMP 1 filled in the experimental class. This can be seen by increasing the mean value of the student's pre-test and post-test scores, where the pre-test of 58.25 which means the low category to the mean score of the post-test students is 79.22 means in the high category.
