Abstract
Land degradation is the loss of soil functions as a source of water and nutrients for the plant, as the root of the plant place, as well as water and nutrient elements added. Due to further degradation process, will become unproductive land and it is called as critical land. Land degradation can be caused by the loss of items nutrient and organic matter from the rooting, inhibit salt or compound toxic to plants in the area of rooting, soil saturation by water (water logging), and erosion. Surface flow that happens to be a trigger for the onset of erosion result in land degradation. Land degradation can give impact on the level of poverty in Indonesia. Degradation resulted the poverty rate increases and the nation loss of revenue of Jayapura district as much as Rp 1.942.866.894.272,- consisting of loss of timber as much as Rp 1.941.855.537.720, and loss potential was Rp 465.211.270,-
