Abstract
Nurwahdan. NIM. 087.0183.2018. The Improvement of Islamic Religion Teachers’ Performance Through The Mastery of Competences (A Study on Pedagogical Competence Command, Profesional Competence, Personality Competence and Social Competence of Islamic Religion Teacher of Senior High School and Vocational High School in Ciamis) Islamic religion teachers’ performance is the performance of works and achievement in carrying out their duties in schools. The main duties of Islamic religion teachers will be effective if they possess the certain level quality of works reflected in their competence and skills to fulfill certain quality standards or measures. The study aims to describe the quality of performance of Islamic religion teachers through the mastery of competences. There are four standards to be the measures of Islamic religion teachers performances: 1) actual works, contribution, competences, and continuous development of Islamic religion teachers to execute the teaching and learning processes, 2) National Curriculum standards of Islamic religion teaching and learning processes, 3) Assessment instrument of Islamic religion teachers based on national standards, 4) Teaching models of Islamic religion teaching in senior high schools and vocational schools in Ciamis regency based on decrees of National Education Minister. The study adopts analytical descriptive qualitative method. The results show that: 1) based on the result document analysis of Islamic religion teachers’ lesson plan, teaching and learning processes, and evaluation, knowledge base teaching approach is used in their teaching and learning process instead of implementation approach which is suggested, 2) the procedure of the performance improvement of Islamic religion teachers of senior high schools and vocational schools in Ciamis Regency uses evaluative instrument in the forms of reports and evaluation teachers performance which originally covers the fourteen (14) competences. The competences are then developed to be seventy eight (78) indicators, 3) the performance of Islamic religion teachers of senior high schools and vocational schools is actually the same as the assessment of other teachers performances. Islamic religion teaching is supposed to be put into practice, while the regulation describes to be knowledge or theoretical approach.
