Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan aktivitas pembelajaran mahasiswa, profil kemampuan mahasiswa, dan tanggapan mahasiswa dalam menerapkan metode IUPAC, metode struktur Lewis, dan metode oksidasi rata-rata untuk menentukan bilangan oksidasi atom C dan N pada senyawa organik. Metode yang digunakan desain one shot case study. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester VI Prodi Pendidikan Kimia Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung sebanyak 35 mahasiswa. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi aktivitas mahasiswa, lembar soal, dan angket. Pengolahan data dalam penelitian menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil observasi aktivitas mahasiswa pada pembelajaran melalui tahapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 95, 55% dengan interpretasi sangat baik. Profil kemampuan mahasiswa kelompok prestasi tinggi, sedang, rendah dalam menerapakan metode penentuan biloks memiliki profil kemampuan yang bervariasi. Kecenderungan setiap kelompok prestasi adalah melewatkan tahapan penulisan struktur Lewis pada metode struktur Lewis dan tidak membedakan keelektronegatifan atom pada metode IUPAC, pada metode oksidasi rata-rata adalah kekeliruan terdapat pada operasi perhitungan bilangan oksidasi atom. Tanggapan mahasiswa sebesar 54,29% menyatakan metode struktur Lewis yang paling mudah untuk diaplikasikan. The purpose of this study is to describe student learning activities, student ability profiles, and student responses in applying the IUPAC method, Lewis structure method, and the average oxidation method to determine the oxidation number of C and N atoms in organic compounds. The method used in the one shot case study design. The subjects of this study were the sixth semester students of Chemistry Education Study Program at the State Islamic University of Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung as many as 35 students. The instruments used were student activity observation sheets, question sheets, and questionnaires. Processing data in research using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The observation results of student activities on learning through the stages of problem-based learning get an average score of 95, 55% with very good interpretations. The profile of the ability of high, middle, and low-achieving group students to apply the method of determining oxidation number has a varied profile of ability. The tendency of each achievement group is to skip the writing stage of the Lewis structure in the Lewis structure method and not distinguish the electronegativity of atoms in the IUPAC method, the average oxidation method is the error found in the calculation operation of atomic oxidation numbers. Student responses of 54.29% state that the Lewis structure method is the easiest to apply.
