Abstract

This research studies the linguistic forms, types of directive speech act and the intention of directive speech act. The object of this research is the directive speech act in X-Men: Apocalypse movie. The main focus problem of this research are (1) What types of the directive speech act are found in X-Men: Apocalypse Movie? And (2) What is the most dominant directive speech act type in X-Men: Apocalypse Movie?. The aims of this research are (1) To find out types of the directive utterances found in X-Men: Apocalypse Movie. (2) To find out the most dominant type in X-Men: Apocalypse Movie. In collecting data, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. According to Vanderstoep and Johnston (2009:7), a qualitative research relies on text rather than number to describe phenomenon which is studied. The data source of this research is X-Men: Apocalypse Movie as the primary source of data and the screenplay as the secondary source of data. This researcher implements some theories. To classify the forms, the researcher uses the Yule theory of directive speech act. Directive speech act is the speaker’s intention to make someone else to do something. Directive speech act divided into four categories; Commanding, Requesting, Ordering and Suggesting. The result of dirrective speech act type in X-Men: Apocalypse Movie shows commanding data (26 data or 43.30%), requesting (7 data or 11.60 %), ordering data (6 data or 10%) and suggesting data (21 data or 35%). Thus, The most dominant directive speech act type is commanding (26 data or 43.30%) from 60 data . In conclusion, fiction film is the film that is found the conflict and action in their daily activity. It can be concluded that the dominant type of directive speech act in fiction film is command.
