Abstract
This research starts from the problems of Islamic boarding schools. In its development faced with two problems, one side Islamic Boarding Schools must organize themselves in accordance with the demands of the development of the times, the other how to create graduates who are competent in Islamic studies to preserve the pesantren's identity in contributing to the planting of akhlaqul karimah. This research is based on Fogarty's theory which suggests that (school based curriculum) as a curriculum model that can integrate skills, themes, concepts, and topics inter and interdisciplinary on the merging of both.. This study focused on the analysis and identification of the achievement of the implementation of the KMI curriculum in Modern Islamic Boarding Schools as well as their advantages and limitations. To achieve this goal, this study uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study. The results of this study show that: (1) Planning is arranged with clear and specific objectives according to needs based on each view of the Modern Islamic Boarding School. This view is reflected in the integration of the KMI, Salafi and National Curriculum curriculum, resulting in a different development process but still based on the same principle; (2) The curriculum implementation uses English, Arabic and Indonesian as the language of instruction and develops and integrates the learning process inside and outside the classroom; (3) the evaluation model refers to the Objective Model Evaluation, carried out at the end of curriculum development, this assessment activity is often called summative evaluation; which emphasizes the character, religious, disciplined, hard work and self-confidence approach; (4) the results of the implementation are very satisfying, as seen from the achievement of Graduate competence standard and academic and non-academic achievements. In academic or saint competition events held by the education office in the form of the Olympics, many participants have passed even though they have only reached the Provincial level; and (5) their advantages and limitations: students have sufficient basic knowledge and basic religious knowledge, as for their limitations: the many burdens of subject matter as a result of the integration of general subjects and religion so that it affects the psychological condition of students, especially for students who are still lacking in academic knowledge. Based on these findings, the implementation of the KMI curriculum must be realized with all its components, so that students master a set of competencies that have been determined, as a result of interaction with their environment. The implementation of the curriculum has many factors that must be prepared so that its implementation works well.
