Abstract

This research investigates, speech act in videos of Sacha Stevenson which are uploaded on YouTube which are titled How to Act in Indonesian. The videos which are broadcasted in 25 parts and aired by Sacha Stevenson in her YouTube channel indicated several satirical contents which are pointed to the Indonesian who typically has particular and unique habits. The research has two research questions which indicated the process of the analysis of the video; 1) What are directness and indirectness of Sacha Stevenson's satire in How to Act Indonesia video?, 2) What types of illocutionary acts are used in both types of satire?. Besides, this researcher also uses the documentation study as the technique collecting data and this research uses qualitative research. The source of data from Sacha Stevenson's account YouTube and the script of dialogue. The result of data analysis show that the researcher does not find direct satire and there is only indirect satire types.Thus, there is also nothing data of speech act illocutionary direct.Furthermore, the results of the second research indicatedsome data of speech act illocutionary act in indirectIt is divided into 25 data directive, 2 data commisive, 26 data expressive and 4 data representative. Thus, Sacha Stevenson seems to be using more satire in the video content of her account and the type of satire is indirect satire.
