Abstract

Many relics from the results of historical civilization are evidence of the existence of life in ancient times. The historical heritage which at this time has been used as a cultural preserve or tourist attraction often creates a meaning and view for everyone who sees it. This condition has been felt by the people in Segaran village, that in that village there has been a temple building from the results of the Tarumanagara royal civilization which is still Hindu-Buddhist. This article is to find out the existence of the Jiwa temple to the surrounding community and also how the Muslim community around and interpret the Jiwa temple as a result of the relics of the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom. The method used in writing this article is a descriptive method by describing and systematically explaining the fact of the existence of the soul temple and the meaning of the views of the Muslim community around the soul temple in factual and careful manner. The author's note in this article shows that the existence of the Jiwa temple has a great influence on the surrounding community, especially in the economic field, while the meanings and views of the Muslim community around the Soul temple are different, some consider it sacred and vice versa. Thus it can be concluded that the existence of the soul temple has a large influence on the lives of the surrounding communities in the form of economic factors in particular, social and religious. The local community interpreted and also viewed the temple as a cultural monument, a historical heritage that must be protected and preserved. Segaran villagers feel proud of the existence of the soul temple, because the temple is a historical trail of the Tarumanagara kingdom which is one of the oldest kingdoms in Indonesia.
