Abstract
INDONESIA Dalam industri pertambangan (petroleum) asam-asam organik yang memiliki berat molekul rendah seperti asam format dan asetat jika bercampur dengan air akan menjadi media yang sangat korosif terhadap bagian dalam pipa baja karbon yang digunakan dalam sumur produksi. Penggunaan inhibitor merupakan teknik pengendalian korosi yang paling murah, mudah, efektif, dan ramah lingkungan sehingga banyak diaplikasikan dalam berbagai bidang industri, seperti industri pertambangan minyak bumi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menentukan efisiensi inhibisi korosi senyawa hasil reaksi ekstrak kulit buah manggis terhadap baja karbon dalam larutan elektrolit jenuh karbon dioksida yang merupakan tiruan media di industri pertambangan minyak. Senyawa tersebut berpeluang digunakan sebagai inhibitor korosi karena mempunyai kerapatan elektron tinggi dan mengandung atom nitrogen dengan pasangan elektron bebas sehingga memungkinkan teradsorpsi kuat pada permukaan logam dan meningkatkan aktivitas inhibisi korosi. Aktivitas inhibisi senyawa tersebut dianalisis dengan metode ektrapolasi Tafel dengan variasi konsentrasi dan suhu. Media yang digunakan yaitu larutan NaCl 1% jenuh CO2. Aktivitas inhibisi ektrak kulit buah manggis meningkat dengan naiknya konsentrasi inhibisi. Efisiensi inhibisi optimum pada konsentrasi 40 ppm pada fraksi semi polar dan 36 ppm pada fraksi polar berturut-turut sebesar 60,37% dan 48,40%. Kenaikan suhu dari 25-550 C menyebabkan aktivitas inhibisi menurun dan mencapai efisiensi inhibisi optimum pada suhu 250C. ENGLISH Corrosion is one of the problems in the industrial sector. Corrosion causes increased maintenance and repair costs. In the mining industry (petroleum), organic acids that constructed by light-weight molecular such as formic acid and acetic can be very corrosive against inner surface of the carbon steel pipe when mixed with water. The use of inhibitor is the cheapest, easy, effective, and environmentally friendly corrosion control technique so it is applied in many industries such as petroleum mining industry. The objective of this study was to determine the efficiency of corrosion inhibition of the mangosteen skin extract reaction to carbon steel in a saturated carbon dioxide electrolyte solution which is an imitation of the oil mining industry. The compound is likely to be used as a corrosion inhibitor because it has a high electron density and contains nitrogen atoms with free electron pairs allowing strong adsorbed on metal surfaces and increasing corrosion inhibition activity. Activation of the inhibition of the compound was analyzed by Tafel extract method with variation of concentration and temperature. The medium used is 1% saturated NaCl solution of CO2. The inhibition activity of mangosteen peel extract increased with increasing inhibition concentration. Efficiency of inhibition at concentration 40 ppm at semi polar fraction and 36 ppm at polar fraction were 60,37% and 48,40% respectively. The temperature rise from 25-550 C causes inhibition activity to decrease and achieve optimum inhibition efficiency at 250C.
