Abstract

ENGLISH : The cooperative principle in a conversation must be obeyed by both interlocutors, so that it could run smoothly and cause no misunderstanding. This is in accordance with the theory advocated by Grice, about the theory of cooperative principle which aims to minimize the occurrence of misunderstanding and misinterpretation between the speaker and the hearer. The cooperative principles consist of four categories, namely maxim of quantity, quality, relevance and manner. Grice summarizes four of cooperative principle to be conversational maxim.Conversational maxims explain that the success of a conversation depends on cooperative which doing by both interlocutors in talk exchange. In conducting the research, qualitative approach and document analysis are used to answer the problems in the data. The research subjects are the conversations of The Adventures of Tintin Comic “The Secret of The Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure”. This research aims to analyze conversational maxims that are flouted by the characters in The Adventures of Tintin Comic “The Secret of The Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure”, and the strategies used by the characters to flouts the conversational maxims. The results of this research show that all types of maxims are flouted by the characters, while only four strategies found in the data are methapor, overstatement, understatement and irony. Based on the analysis, the researcher found 6 flouting maxim of quantity, 10 flouting maxim of quality, 16 flouting maxim of relevance and 2 flouting maxim of manner. Based on the analysis data, it can be stated that there are 8 strategies of flouting maxims namely one metaphor strategy, 3 overstatement strategy, 3 understatement strategy and 2 irony strategy. INDONESIA : Prinsip kerjasama dalam sebuah percakapan harus di patuhi oleh interlokutor, supaya berjalan dengan lancar dan tidak menimbulkan ketidakpahaman. Hal ini berdasarkan teori yang diusung oleh Grice, mengenai teori prinsip kerjasama yang bertujuan untuk menimalisir terjadinya ketidakpahaman dan kesalahan interpretasi antara pembicara dan pendengar. Prinsip kerjasama terdiri dari empat kategori, yaitu maxim of quantity, quality, relevance dan manner. Grice meringkas empat prinsip kerjasama menjadi percakapan maksim. Percakapan maksim menjelaskan bahwa suksesnya sebuah percakapan bergantung kepada kerjasama yang dilakukan oleh interlokutor dalam melakukan pertukaran percakapan. Dalam melakukan penelitian, pendekatan kualitatif dan analisis dokumen digunakan untuk menjawab masalah yang ada di dalam data. Subjek penelitian ini adalah percakapan yang ada di komik The Adventures of Tintin “The Secret of The Unicorn dan Red Rackham’s Treasure”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis maksim percakapan yang terlanggar oleh para karakter yang ada di dalam komik The Adventures of Tintin “The Secret of The Unicorn dan Red Rackham’s Treasure”,dan strategi yang digunakan oleh para karakter untuk melanggar percakapan maksim. Hasil dari penelitian , menunjukan bahwa semua jenis maksim dilanggar oleh para karakter, sedangkan hanya empat strategi yang ditemukan di dalam data yaitu metafora, overstatement, understatement dan ironi. Dari analisa yang telah dilakukan, penulis menemukan 6 pelanggaran maksim kuantitas, 10 pelanggaran maksim kualitas, 16 pelanggaran maksim hubungan dan 2 pelanggaran maksim cara. Berdasarkan data analisis, bisa dinyatakan bahwa terdapat empat strategi pelanggaran maksim yaitu 8 strategi metafora, 3 strategi overstatement, 3 strategi understatement dan dua strategi ironi.
