Abstract

Detective fiction has been raised in early 19th century by Edgar Allan Poe and become more famous when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle introduced Sherlock Holmes as detective in his works and followed by Agatha Christie who introduced Hercule Poirot as detective in her works. One of the best Agatha Christie’s novels is Death on the Nile. This research uses theory from E.M Forster to find the characterization in character which is divided into two flat character and round character and theory from Robert Stanton to find the conflict which is divided into two there are external conflict and internal conflict. In this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the text. The data in this research can be shown characterization in every character in Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile and conflicts are there in novel. The final of the research is conclusion and suggestions were drawn based on the findings of the research. The results of analysis showed that 1.) To know how the characterization in Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile which is divided into two categories, there are flat character and round character. 2.) To know how the conflict in Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile novel which is divided into two there are internal and external conflict.
