Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the types of word formation contained in the Football Manager 2017 game, and to find out the problems faced by the gamers when playing the game. next the writer concludes the results of the study so that it can be seen the effect of using English language on football terms contained in Football Manager 2017 games can be well understood by gamers or not. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with a total sample data is 75 data and 10 people as respondents. The technique of determining and collecting data used is by selecting data in the form of football terms contained in Football Manager 2017 games that have been downloaded by the writer, obaservation, interviews, and library research. The results show that there were 53 data of word formation compounding (40%), 4 coinage data (15%), 10 data borrowing (25%) and 6 data acronyms (20%). While the results of observations about the problems faced by the gamers when playing the game are an average answer, namely the use of English language which is an problem for gamers so that the terms contained in the game become difficult to understand. In addition, 2 of 10 respondents who only have a very good understanding of football terms contained in the Football Manager 2017 game and the rest only know fundamentally about football terms.
