Abstract

This research focused on the issue about Deixis and Reference meaning with contains the understanding of the meanings spoken by the speaker and interpreted by listeners in both oral and writer forms. The theory used is Pragmatics approach that relies on on the understanding of Alan Cruse (2000) which is specifically used to dissect or analyze Deixis in the region of the types Deixis which include: Person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis. As well as knowing and interpreting the reference meaning in the song lyrics Maher Zain one album. The result is that the types of Deixis, person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis are used in the song lyrics Maher Zain one album. The use of personal deixis indicates the role participant or actors in the song lyrics consist first person pronouns, person pronouns, second and third person. Moreover, the spatial deixis indicates the place or location of event. Next types is temporal deixis, it indicates relative time of speech event. Then, social deixis that occurs in most of songs in one album indicates the social status and also the closeness and piety of singer or writer with God. The last type is discourse deixis which only occurs in one song lyrics. Namely in the song “By my side” contained in the word; That, This, that refers to certain discourse that contain expressions or saying on song lyric as a signal and the relationship to the text around it.
