Abstract

This thesis analyses the psychological character in Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The analysis in this thesis includes the analysis of the characterization of the main character as a psychological disorder and influence over other characters. The main character in this novel is Humbert. He has a huge obsession on young children; this is referred as a pedophile. The data were obtained directly from Lolita. It means that the text contained in the novel as source in this analysis. Humbert’s personality analysis is using one of the psychological theories of literature, namely the psychology analysis by Sigmund Freud. This is theory used personality and emotion classification. In addition, the researcher also used the theory character on other character by Kenny. This analysis is looking for two issues. The first is Humbert characterization as pedophile and the second is attitude of other character to Humbert. In order for the results obtained with the directional analysis, the researcher uses objective approach, by looking at a piece of literature, in this case the novel, without using things outside the text. While the methods used for this analysis is qualitative descriptive method. The results of the analysis can be concluded that the behavior of pedophile Humbert as a selfish change the future of a child twelve years old innocent teenage girl who became a dissident and disrespectful .
