Abstract
Language use as a component in conversation and take particular functions depending on context or contact of the speaker. These functions include commanding, expressing, conveying, maintain contact, and describing. This research discusses problems in youtube channel about phatic function are there in conversation between Ryan and his partner and what context situation that contains in YouTube Channel Ryan Toys Review. This research aims to add knowledge to one of the language functions that are phatic and context of situation that use for conversation in every situation. To analyze problems, the researcher had taken the theory from Jacobson and Hymes. This research uses qualitative descriptive method to reach the research finding. The source of data of 60 data collected from the dialog of Ryan and his partner on 4 videos of Ryan Toys Review Youtube Channel. There are two phatic functions that appears in a conversation between Ryan and his partners such as to attract attention and to check whether the channel work. In this research found 10 utterances as phatic function to attract attention and 15 utterances as phatic function to check channel work. In this research also use 8 component of context situation from 35 data that is setting, participant, ends, act, key, instrumentalities, norms, and genre from 4 videos of Ryan Toys Review Youtube Channel.
