Abstract

ENGLISH Prepositional Phrase is the part of preposition and absolutely it is the part of grammar too. It has rules and deregulations that must be obeyed. Without a correct replacement of preposition, the meaning of the sentence can make the people confused. Hence, the research questions of this research are: 1) What are the positions of prepositions phrase of sentences found in Novel The Perfect Nany written by Leila Slimani?. 2) What are the patterns of tree diagram for a prepositional phrase of sentences found in Novel The Perfect Nany written by Leila Slimani?. The researcher use Position of Prepositional Phrase theory by Frank (1972) and theory of a tree diagram by Delahunty and Garvey (2010) to analyze the data. The research method of this research is descriptive qualitative method. Technique of analyzing data of this research uses four steps, there are reading, categorizing, analyzing and concluding. Based on the data analysis, the findings show that the position of prepositional phrase in novel The Perfect Nany written by Leila Slimani is dominated by position in adverbial function (34 data). And the position in adjectival function is only found with 16 data. Base on the data analysis, it can be concluded that prepositional phrase adverbial function is more widely used than prepositional phrase adjectival function, because it can modify the verb, adverb, and adjectival that are mostly found in sentences. It is was also concluded that in one sentence there could be more than one prepositional phrase through the tree diagram that have been analyzed. INDONESIA Frasa Preposisi adalah bagian dari preposisi dan bagian dari tata bahasa. Frasa Preposisi memiliki aturan dan deregulasi yang harus dipatuhi. Orang akan dibuat bungung akan makna kalimat tanpa penggunaan preposisi yang benar. Oleh karena itu, pertanyaan dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Apa posisi frasa preposisi pada kalimat yang ditemukan dalam Novel The Perfect Nany yang ditulis oleh Leila Slimani ?. 2) Apa pola diagram pohon untuk frasa preposisi pada kalimat yang ditemukan dalam Novel The Perfect Nany yang ditulis oleh Leila Slimani ?. Peneliti menggunakan teori Posisi Frasa Preposisi oleh Frank (1972) dan teori diagram pohon oleh Delahunty dan Garvey (2010) untuk menganalisis data. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan empat langkah, yaitu membaca, mengategorikan, menganalisis, dan menyimpulkan. Berdasarkan analisis data, temuan menunjukkan bahwa posisi frasa preposisional dalam novel The Perfect Nany yang ditulis oleh Leila Slimani didominasi oleh posisi dalam fungsi adverbia (34 data). Dan posisi dalam fungsi kata sifat hanya ditemukan dengan 16 data. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa fungsi kata kerja frasa preposisi lebih banyak digunakan daripada fungsi kata sifat frasa preposisi, karena dapat memodifikasi kata kerja, kata kerja, dan kata sifat yang sebagian besar ditemukan dalam kalimat. Juga disimpulkan bahwa dalam satu kalimat bisa ada lebih dari satu frasa preposisi hal ini dapat dilihat melalui diagram pohon yang telah dianalisis.
