Abstract
Characters are the important element in the novel to build the story more interesting. Usually, the main characters in the novel have mental and physical similarities in the real life. Like in the novel Finding Audrey, Shopie Kinsella presents psychological reflection in the characters in an interesting way with social anxiety disorder as the psychological problem. This research uses pragmatic approach and it fits with the psychological criticism built on the Freudian theories of Psychoanalysis. To analyze social anxiety disorder suffered by the main character, the researcher uses the theory of social anxiety disorder from the American Psychiatric Association. The results of the analysis show that 1) when the main character has to be present in front of a stranger; her anxiety will arise in the form of panic attack and get some somatic reactions, 2) The factor of the main character suffered social anxiety disorder are bullying and introvert, 3) The main character’s social anxiety disorder is resolved by free association method, exposure therapy, motivation and self impulses
