Abstract

Feminism emerged from the awareness of women against discrimination, subordination, and accepted their marginalization. Feminism aims to get equal rights. This look of the character named Liz. This research aims to answer the questions raised: 1) The depiction of the main character as an independent woman, a figure in the novel Eat Pray Love. 2) Seeking happiness in the novel Eat Pray Love. In the process of exploration and analysis of the data, the researchers use a feminist theory of Helene Cixous wrote about women. This is due to the rationale presented the woman should write to the main character in the novel Eat Pray Love Elizabeth Gilbert work called Liz, to get the same equality with men, with not breaking her nature as the woman. In analyzing the above question, the researchers used a qualitative descriptive analysis in the form. The qualitative method means researchers analyze the data by explaining that in the form of citations. Researchers using the technique of the analysis of the contents to get an overview about feminism that exists in the novel Eat Pray Love Elizabeth Gilbert works. This research consists of 50 data taken from the novel Eat Pray Love. The results of this research are: first, regarding the main character who has an independent nature, the intent of the independent nature of itself that is representing the women who experienced the repression that is told in the novel. Second, regarding the search of happiness found in novels, by way of travelling to the third countries, first to Italy by way of culinary, second India spiritual way, and Indonesia (Bali) and find a true love.
