Abstract

Learning vocabulary has been considered a boring subject for a long time.In order to help teacher creates a comfortable and interesting learning acticity, Text Twist game technique is used. The objectives of this research are to investigate the process of using Text Twist game done by teacher and to identify the students’ responses toward the use of Text Twist game in vocabulary learning. This research is conducted by using a qualitative case study method. It involves a teacher and 29 students in the eighth grade of SMPIT As-Syifa Al-Khoeriyah Boarding School Wanareja placed in Subang. The data used in this research are gained from observation, interview and questionnaire. The findings of this research shows that teacher follow the rules of using Text Twist game by experts while do some modifications due to a few reasons. There are three kind of responses that the students show after learning using Text Twist Game, they are affective responses that shows students like using the game in the learning process, the second is cognitive responses that shows students feel easier in memorizing the action verb vocabulary and its translation, the last is behavioral responses that is shown by the ability of working together by the students during the game. Therefore, the use of Text Twist game in vocabulary teaching and learning is an effective way to improve students’ vocabulary mastery and motivation in learning vocabulary.
